What is the Summer Slide?

The summer slide, or learning regression, is a well-documented phenomenon where students can lose up to two months' worth of academic skills during the summer break. Alarming statistics* reveal that by the time students reach middle school, those who have experienced summer learning loss over the years can be as much as two years behind their peers.

At Leap Camp, we're trading the summer slide for the summer leap! We're excited to help children maintain their academic momentum and gear up for a successful new school year.

Zoom Webinar Advantage

At Leap Camp, we prioritize creating an optimal learning environment for your child, which is why we use a live webinar format instead of a traditional Zoom meeting for our sessions. Webinars minimize distractions by allowing Camp Counselor Kathy to control the audio and video, preventing background noises and inappropriate or distracting visuals that can occur in live meetings. This structured format ensures that all students remain focused on the lesson, providing a more efficient and effective educational experience. Additionally, the webinar format still allows for interactive elements such as real-time question and answer sessions, ensuring your child can actively engage and receive feedback while maintaining a distraction-free environment.

-Lillian L., Parent at Northwest Rankin Elementary School

"Ms. Kathy has been tutoring my daughter since 2021. Prior to sessions with Ms. Kathy, my daughter struggled in Reading and English. Ms. Kathy has been Heaven Sent for my family. She is patient, loving, and encouraging. She makes learning fun, and my daughter has blossomed in all subject areas."

-Latoya C., Parent at Jackson Academy

"Ms. Kathy has been my grandson's tutor for the fall and spring semesters. He was retained in second grade, so we sought out a reading tutor to help him. Luckily, Ms. Kathy came along, and she has done a remarkable job with him. She got his attention, and he is at the level he should be. I could go on and on about how much she has helped him. This semester, he has been reading third-grade material with Ms. Kathy, and he has just been promoted to the third grade after a successful school year."
